The Best Friends-Cousins

ME and the JAE

Born in Nineteen Ninety One,

raised by they call dad and mom,

grown with three siblings in fun,

and lived in a family of one.

At times he is seen happy.

He cheats to show his story.

Yet, he cries in vulnerability.

This, when he’s alone and free.

When he is at his peak,

it’s his darlings that he seeks.

The people he can’t live without

and the few who’ll save him when drown.

J and E are their initials.

Letters that complete the JAE.

Letters that are bound with trials

and letters that make one gay.

These two stay forever with A.

The chosen to complete the play

with life they call selfish

but someday they could all cherish.

Four years of existence

bound with so much experience.

No one leaves ‘til the end.

Even the end will come to an end.

This is not the first poem I made because when I was in college, I already made several poems. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to collect them like I do now. Anyways, This poem is one of my favorites so let's start with it. This poem was written when we started to part ways. That's when I graduated in college. We stick together like no one can break us apart even our own families. Their names are Jannie Lou for the J and Elmaelene for the E. They are my first cousins. Their mothers are my mother's sisters. When we parted ways, I started to feel like I have no one to talk to even we're texting casually. I started to feel like I need them always like I can't go on with my life without their presence and of course their foolishness. Four years of protecting each other, getting along with each other everyday through tears of sorrows and happiness, fooling around like there will be no more days to come and yes, when parting times, it gone crazy. And then I realized, why not make a poem to bind us together forever. For us to remember each other when we're old enough to remember each's names. Probably not the best poem of all times but for us, it would mark the best experiences we've been together. They have their own families now. The JAE has new members actually since 2009 when we didn't even come up yet to this name. The group-cousin name JAE was established in 2010 when we had our first time sleep over together at Elmaelene's house. Like we gone crazy for we didn't sleep for the whole night. Well, not really the whole night but we're up until 4am as I remember. Elmaelene has her husband Erjohn Guartico. They have 2 children named Endrix Kian and Eljohn Knan. Elmaelene's first child, Eizchelle Kate, from her first partner is not with them. Jannie Lou, on the other hand, just found her lifetime partner Ivan Psalms Tisbe last year and excitedly, they just met their first born on the 1st of May this year named, Tyleir Matthew Tisbe. And me, I left alone. I gotta find my own soon. That is the story of the JAE and family. ;) The after story of the poem above.
